Old Dalby won the toss and put Thrumpton in to bat and things where looking good when the opening batsman was caught in the first over. However despite some tight bowling from Dalby it was not until the 15th over that the next one fell with 50 runs on the board. Dalby continued to keep the score down but at the end of the allotted 45 overs the score was 137 for 9. Bowling figures: Joe Gant 2-13 in a spell featuring 6 maidens, David Greaves 4-30, George Pierce 1-24, William Garnett 1-24 and Harry Clayton 1-38 After tea Dalby took to the field and Thrumpton's young bowlers set about their task with the first wicket going in the first over. The wickets fell steadily with only David Greaves making much impact with 32. It fell to the youngsters to try to save the day but despite a fine 10 from Harry Clayton and William Garnett 8 not out Dalby ended on 90 all out in 38 overs.
